Originally the Congress was planned to take place in September, but last week the Chairman of the "Unity" Andris Piebalgs said that will no longer run for that office.
Willingness to nominate his candidacy to this position was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the party Edward Smelters.
As previously stated Piebalgs, members and supporters of the "Unity" waiting for drastic changes, and this means new leadership.
Piebalgs is ready to continue to work in the party and run for Parliament.
According to him, the party is great internal tension, but the main thing - to regain the trust of voters.
Piebalgs was elected leader of the "Unity" 4th of July last year, an extraordinary Congress of the party.
