Narni

The small town of Narni is in Umbria, an hour drive North from Rome. Its history goes back 27 centuries, the first mention of the city dates back to around the year 600 BC. Today in Narni you can feel the medieval character, walking through the narrow streets surrounded by stone buildings. There remained Europe's largest Roman bridge was built — a 30-meter bridge Aug. This year, from April 24 to may 14, at Narni, already in the 49-th time will host the festival "Corsa al Anello". This historical reconstruction is an exact copy of the knightly tournaments of the middle Ages. Contestants must get the spear suspended rings with a diameter of 6 to 10 inches. The winner receives the main prize of competition — a silk banner, the Palio. The fest culminates on may 3 is the commemoration day of the patron Saint of the city Giovenale di Narni.
