As reported by the Ministry of defence of Lithuania, July 11, fighters NATO rose into the air to identify and escort Russian Tu-134 aircraft and su-27 flying over the Baltic sea from the Kaliningrad region to mainland Russia.

Transport aircraft Tu-134 was flying with the transponder off, but according to the flight plan and liaised with regional managers. Su-27 was followed with the transponder turned off, no flight plan, had not maintained contact with regional managers.

The mission of the air policing of the Baltic States is carried out with air force bases in Lithuania and Estonia.
