UOKiK podjął decyzję w sprawie PZPN! Związek reaguje i zadeklarowano natychmiastowe zmiany –
UOKiK, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, has investigated the decision made by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) and Ekstraklasa SA. The decision in question was related to the high fees imposed on bookmakers for using the results of football matches. Upon intervention by UOKiK, the fees were adjusted, prompting a response from PZPN.
The initial decision to charge a fee of 0.5% of total gross revenue from bookmakers raised concerns, as it was applied without a detailed analysis of the portion generated by PZPN-organized matches. UOKiK initiated an explanatory proceeding to examine this matter.
Following the investigation, UOKiK announced that the fee structure had been changed, and the new mechanism was deemed satisfactory from an antitrust perspective. President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, stated that this conclusion marked the end of their actions regarding PZPN and Ekstraklasa in this regard.
The primary aim of the investigation was to ensure that PZPN and Ekstraklasa SA did not abuse their market dominance. It was found that there were indeed changes made to the commission system, with the new rate being lower and calculated based only on the benefits derived from events organized by the association.
